Both girls have had a horrible cold and for some reason that I can't remember, cold medication for kids is virtually impossible to find. I used to have some prescription children's cold medication, but we used it all last year. Anyway, Lilly and Lucy were so miserable this morning and I was talking to mom on the phone so she googled "natural cold remedies" for me and found a concoction made of honey and onions. They claimed that it didn't taste bad at all and really worked. I figured it couldn't hurt and that the worst that could happened is that they could refuse to drink it.
So, I chopped up the onions, poured honey all over them, covered the bowl and let it sit for a couple of house. I then poured out some of the honey and gave it to the girls to drink. I wasn't sure that this wasn't going to be an event that they talk about at my funeral. "Hey, you remember the time mom tried to make us drink honeyed onions and claimed that it tasted fine and would cure what ailed us?"
Amazingly, not only did it not taste bad, it seemed to make them feel a little better. Lilly says it tastes like honey apples and Lucy didn't say anything, but she didn't spit it out. So I guess this is one natural remedy that I'm going to keep.
