Portraits

Yesterday we got the five generation photos taken for Grandma. I don't photograph well, but there are a couple in which I don't look too weird. My favorite is the one where Lilly is smelling Lucy's feet. I hope Lucy is a little happier next month when she gets her picture taken.

Doctor visit

Today Lucy went for her six month check up. Some how we got a month behind, because she is actually seven months old. Lucy now weighs 14 lbs 8 oz., so she is still in the 10th percentile. Dr. Watts said that she is doing great and not to worry about the fact that she won't eat solid food. He also commented on how strong she is, because while he was trying to listen to her heart, she would jerk the stethoscope out of his ears. Lucy would scream at the top of her lungs when he would touch her, but the second he moved his hand she would stop crying and smile at him. I don't think she likes strangers invading her personal space. Hopefully Lucy will stay healthy and we won't have to go back till the end of September.

Yesterday we went to Value Village and Jimmy found Lilly a giant box full of large, wooden blocks for only $5. Lilly used them to build a bridge across the living room which is still there because she doens't want me to take it down. I also got Lucy a dress to wear when she gets her picture taken and some really nice cloth napkins.

It must run in the family

Lilly has turned into her Nan and apparently Emily. This morning while watching one of her favorite cartoons (Shaun the Sheep), she turned to me and Jimmy and said "No talking during my cartoon please".

Her poor mother

One of my favorite time wasting things to do is browse the children's clothing section of Spot's Corner. I have seen some really cute clothes, but I don't think I've ever bought anything. Anyway, last night during my browsing I came upon these listings. I feel sorry for her mother. She probably can't afford organic, sustainable clothes and just wanted to buy her grand kids something.

We actually have this outfit and so far it hasn't killed Lucy.

I can just imagine her running and shrieking in terror when she realized that her daughter was touching non-organic, non-sustainable fabric. Her poor daughter is probable ruined by those four minutes exposed to toxins.

More complaints about her mom.

Her husband might be evil too.

Some of her clothes are cute, but I don't think the sizes are right for Lucy. Plus, my girls already have a bunch of toxin filled clothes. :-)

Saturday

My Saturday started at a little after six when Felix and the neighbor's cat decided to start yowling at each other. They never actually fight, they just puff up, shed fur, and make lots of loud noises. I went and screamed at them and they were quiet, but by that time Lucy was awake and Lilly was up a little while later.

I've been putting off going to the grocery store, but we were totally out of food, so I had to go this morning. Going to the grocery store with two small children is torture. For some odd reason Food Lion only has one buggy that has the built in baby carrier and they redesigned the buggies so that I can't just snap the car seat on top. Today some one else was using the baby buggy, so I had to push a regular one while holding Lucy and trying to keep Lilly from putting random objects in the cart. Lilly tries to talk to everyone she meets, so it takes forever to get through the store. Lucy spit up on me and the shopping list. I couldn't read all of it and forgot to get dishwasher detergent, so I had to wash all of today's dishes by hand.

After Lilly and Lucy both took naps, we went over to Mom and Dad's to pick peas. Lilly had fun and ate a ton after we shelled them. This is the last of the peas; Dad is going to pull them up and plant green beans now.

After supper we went for a walk to check on the blackberries (they aren't ripe), Lilly jumped in mud puddles, and then caught tiny frogs. Since she was filthy, Lilly then took a bubble bath, ate blueberries and peaches, and is currently asleep. Lucy is about asleep too, so I think I will head off to bed and the cat better stay quiet all night.

Pool Party

There is a party going on in one of our pools. Sadly it doesn't include us, just hundreds of tiny tadpoles. Jimmy doesn't want to kill them, so I guess we won't get to use that pool until they all turn into frogs.

Tadpoles:

At least we have another pool for Lilly to play in.

Lucy doesn't like the sun or the pool, so she sits in the shade.
