Block City

One of Lilly's favorite books is "Block City" by Robert Louis Stevenson. She likes to try and make a city like in the book, but since Lucy loves to knock down blocks, she has to build it on the back of the couch instead of below it.

Lucy plotting the best way to climb up to the blocks.

It is almost impossible to get a picture where they are both smiling. Usually it is Lucy not smiling, but this time it was Lilly.

Making Bread

I haven't made bread in a really long time, so this was the first time that Lilly was old enough to help. Sadly my yeast was expired and my bread didn't rise that well, but Lilly had fun so that is all that matters. It's the process not the product!

Lilly carefully kneading the bread.

Lucy wanted to join in too!

We made rolls with some of the dough.

Silly Lilly

Lilly loves having her picture taken. She probably asks me ten times a day to take her picture. She mostly likes to make crazy faces and then look at them. Lucy isn't too fond of having her picture taken and would rather attempt to eat the camera. So I have ended up with a huge amount of Lilly pictures and very few Lucy ones.

Doll Party

Lilly lined up all her dolls at the end of my bed and had party with them. Lucy tried to join in, but she kept moving the dolls around and upsetting Lilly.

Making Cottage Cheese.

Inspired by the slightly crazy under 1000 per month Emily, I decided to make my own cottage cheese. It was really easy to make and I like it better then the store bought kind. Lilly took a couple of bites but didn't really like it and of course, Lucy wouldn't eat it.

First you bring milk to a very light boil.

Then, remove from heat and add vinegar. This creates curds and whey. I don't think it was the spider that scared Little Miss Muffet, I think it was her food. I can't imagine eating this.

Then strain the curds from the whey, leaving some whey to create the cottage cheese texture.

The finished product. I'm not sure I will do it again, but it was an interesting experiment.

They're coming to take me away ha ha

If Jimmy brings home one more item that makes noise and the girls fight over, they won't have to come get me, I will gladly go find them.

The first instrument of torture was this:

There are balls that roll through it making noise, it makes jungle sounds, plays music, and lights up. I just now figured out how to turn the volume down, so it isn't quite as horrible.

The second instrument of torture:

It plays music, lights up, and the princesses twirl and dance. They usually fight over who gets to ride on it. Occasionally Lilly will run like a crazed person, careening wildly around the house with Lucy on it, but that usually results in it tipping over and Lucy getting hurt.

The last and most recent item is this:

Yes, it is a child sized recliner. And yes, of course they fight over who gets to sit in it. Lucy can climb up into it, but she can't get out without tipping the whole chair over. Lilly thinks it is the best thing ever.

And since I've never heard the whole song (just the parts Jaclyn used to sing), here is "They're Coming to Take Me Away" I am pretty sure a great deal of mind altering drugs went into the making of this video.

Baby Dr. Watts' Mother

Lilly took one of Hannah's old dolls last year and for some strange reason named it Baby Dr. Watts. For Christmas she decided that all she wanted was Baby Dr. Watts' Mother. We searched far and wide to find the perfect doll, but it wasn't till about the week before Christmas that she saw the one that was just right. Lilly decided that Santa went sent his elves to Walmart to buy it. She carries both dolls around all the time and loves them, but she was quite disappointed when she found out that Baby Dr. Watts' Mother could not go in the bathtub like Baby Dr. Watts can.

Finally a toddler

Lucy is finally toddling around. She still has some unsteady moments, but she is getting better every day.

The fairy-princess-pirate

For Christmas my mom got Lilly a dress up kit. She insists that we play dress up almost everyday. Currently, her favorite thing to dress up as is a fairy-princess-pirate. She carries her fairy wand around her waist like a sword. She tries to make Lucy dress up like a dragon, but Lucy doesn't cooperate too well. According to Lilly, every fairy-princess-pirate needs a tiny purse with jewelry.

In this picture the "dragon" is trying to rip the magic sword/wand out of the fairy-princess-pirate's hand and an epic battle was fought. The wand was saved, but the a necklace from the purse had to be sacrificed to appease the whiny dragon.

And yes I do realize that Lucy doesn't match at all, but it was actually early in the morning and she had slept in that since her pajamas were being washed. I did not take her out like that.
